Application ACCC Recalls Australia has been launched by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission – as a tool for informing and protecting consumers against dangerous products.
The application is used by Australian consumers. The goal is to provide current information on products being withdrawn from the market. The ACCC Recalls Australia application consists of 4 modules – functions:
➢ The first function (Recalls) to send a user the latest information (notifications) of the product, and enable them to search for details concerning a particular product.
➢ The second function (Search) provides possibility to search for a product by name or category of products in a national database of products.
➢ The third function (Report) is for reporting dangerous products to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. Information from users of the application state the reasons why a product may be dangerous, date and place of the occurrence of this product. The application also provides possibility to attach a photo of a product to the report.
➢ The fourth tab is general information about the application (About).
The application collects data on an ongoing basis from the website www.recalls.gov.au, which contains information on product safety in Australia.
The application is available for free on iPhone and Android.
