1. Implementation procedure
2. Implementation's characteristics
Otwarta Warszawa is an example of using crowdsourcing solutions in urban space. Users of the website (most likely residents of Warsaw, although there are no restrictions on who can register) can submit ideas, which will then be passed to the city authorities, and the most interesting of them will be awarded and implemented.
The idea, apart from a description, can be supplemented with a photo and a location for its implementation indicated. The website allows to comment concepts, voting on other users’ ideas, browsing ideas submitted in response to a specific questions or viewing them on a map. Submitting ideas is animated by means of asking questions by the administrators, so it is not possible to submit a concept, which is not an answer to one of questions. It does not significantly restrict flexibility of the range of reported ideas, because is it a category of so-called random ideas. The concepts are evaluated by other users as well as by the jury, which varies for each question.
The main page focuses users’ attention on questions that are to provoke for seeking improvements, new ideas in particular areas. In addition to the questions, a user can also view a number of ideas submitted in response to a specific questions, or whether a prize is provided for the best ideas, what type of category it is. A user can, directly from this level, go to adding their own ideas. From the main page, a user can go to ideas map, to registration/logging subsite, latest developments, as well as remaining subsites of the website (traditional menu is provided at the bottom of the site).
The subsite with a map of ideas allows a user (also one who is not signed in) to view the submitted ideas on the map of Warsaw. After selecting the “pushpin”, a description of an idea opens. Additionally, it is possible to filter ideas by category (transport, culture, greenery, random idea etc). Signed in users can vote on an ideas by clicking on the heart in the description of the concept.
After logging in, the menu to the top of the page displays additional link – vote. On clicking the respective button – appears a window with two ideas which are an answer to the same question, and a user has to decide, which of them is better.
The website contains latest developments interface presented as a blog. It is also integrated with social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
