2. Implementation's characteristics

The Polska.pl  portal has been designed for anyone wishing to visit Poland. The service has been developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and aims to promote the country, as well as to provide users with information on Poland’s history, famous individuals, cultures and sites particularly worth visiting. It also constitutes a rich source of tourist information related to, among others, available means of transport, public communication (links to the sites of service providers), accommodation (including youth hostels and camping sites browsers).

The service can be used by moving along the menu whose sections send a user to particular subpages in the form of thematic blocs of information or to the websites of the ministers or other institutions responsible for providing services in Poland. To make navigation more user-friendly, the service uses hashtags.

The service also features the “Plan your trip” application that brings together, on one itinerary, all destinations chosen by a given user. Besides, the application allows for publishing activity results in social media – for each trip plan you can generate a link with a detailed itinerary.

The Polska.pl website features links to social networking media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr. Out of these, the application offers dedicated accounts only on Facebook and Twotter. In other cases, users are redirected to the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. Finally, the Polska.pl portal enables the RSS subscription.
