2. Implementation's characteristics

iMentors is an application designed to collect and share information about investments in infrastructure and improving the exchange of views and information between the service users. The objective of the platform is to gather information about the so-called e-infrastructure (networks, research infrastructure, projects, organizations), i.e. resources that may be useful to researchers, authorities, ICT companies and other stakeholders, for which the information on the already functioning e-infrastructure is crucial in the decision-making processes (e.g. new investments, when planning research etc.).

The platform allows to browse through e-infrastructure, which was described on the platform, and a user does not need to be signed-in to do it. The browsing options are extensive and allow to a run a query precisely. Data on the e-infrastructure are also available from the map. Next to any searched resource, there are buttons indicating actions, that can be performed on it (in the case of such e-infrastructure one can: read a detailed description, see its location on a map, add to a watch list, as well as edit).

The signed-in users can add new entries for different types of e-infrastructure, as well as use the platform to get in touch with other users, who have put information about an e-infrastructure, or are linked to it. Each user has access to a mailbox. They can set which notifications they wish to receive, e.g. concerning changes on a specified infrastructure.
